Catalan leader on court
Quim Torra admitted disobeying an order from Spain’s Central Electoral Board to take down banner featuring separatists symbols from government building during the campaigns for municipal and european elections.
Torra argued that some of them were part of the region’s heritage and he was told to take them down anyway, that’s why the politician accused that the order was illegal. a guilty verdict from the regional High Court could lead to the president of the Goverment of Catalonia losing his mandate. He could, however, appeal to the Supreme Court.
